Photography in a kayak

All the shots on this website were taken with very simple cameras including:

  • iPhone 3
  • iPhone 4s
  • Panasonic Lumix A
  • Panasonic Lumix A
  • FujiFil XP50

While I own professional grade cameras I don’t recommend taking them on the water unless the photography part of the trip is more important than the enjoyment of traveling by kayak. If so I would suggest a pontoon or bass boat would make more sense, so get your priorities straight or you might find your self very unhappy. I dropped a camera in the water and it is a very final accident that can occur too easily to be worth the risk.

No mater what gear you bring you need to make sure you have a solution for floatation and waterproofing. I was able to recover a camera from 3 meters of water and save the memory card. The camera did not survive.

I’ll have more to share on this topic once I complete the other sections of the site.
